Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack was left raging last night after watching Sky Sports’ promo for his side’s game against Celtic yesterday.
Ahead of the 3-3 draw between the Dons and the Hoops, Sky published a promo video that counted all of Celtic’s 22 goals against Aberdeen over the last four years at Pittodrie.
Indeed, Celtic had won every single visit to the Granite City since then before yesterday’s stalemate. However, Cormack was left seething as they labeled the video “one-sided” – clearly agitated at the fact Aberdeen’s goals also weren’t shown.

You can see why the Aberdeen chairman and indeed anyone of a red and white persuasion would have an issue with this. In the games shown, the Dons managed to several goals that weren’t shown in the package, including three in a spectacular 4-3 defeat to the Hoops in December 2018.
However, you also can’t really have too much of a pop at it either considering it has been one of the most one-sided rivalries Scottish football has had over recent years.
Cormack could do with looking more in-house as to why this has been shown. Perhaps he should be asking his manager why Celtic have rocked up at their stadium and scored so many goals in the first place. Then again, it’s not exactly like Cormack to believe Aberdeen are at fault for anything.
The media-friendly chairman quite rightly has a duty to defend his club of course. He feels he’s doing that here. But the goals shown in the video did happen, and Celtic had previously won every single one of the games shown. You can’t have a massive pop at there being such a one-sided video for such a one-sided rivalry.
Granted, the Dons gave us a bloody nose yesterday and all credit to them. They fully deserved their point, but spare us the idea that a promo from Sky provided some sort of motivation. Had it not been for careless defending from the Hoops then we would’ve been strolling out of Aberdeen with another win. Regardless of how you look at it, it was a result that came from individual errors at the back as opposed to being cut open by anything McInnes’ side did.
Hopefully, this gees us up a bit and gives us the shake we need ahead of next Sunday’s Hampden rematch. As for Sky’s video, it wasn’t great, but Aberdeen have hardly come themselves any favours in this fixture over the last four years.
