Whilst Celtic are set to take on Milan in the Europa League on Thursday night, some might argue that the Hoops’ biggest game of the week is on Sunday. That is when Neil Lennon’s side travels to Aberdeen in what is a huge league fixture.

Aberdeen’s Ryan Edmondson has made some remarks about the game, and the Scottish Cup semi-final between the sides. The comments should catch the eye of Neil Lennon.

“100 per cent we can get a couple of wins against Celtic. We’ll pick out their weaknesses, and hopefully we can put on a show and grind out a result. I’m sure we can go there full of confidence and play our game and grab a result.” Edmondson said, as quoted by the Daily Record.

Hoops unbeaten in seven against Dons

There’s nothing wrong with being confident in your abilities. However, Edmonson’s comments do seem very bold. Particularly when you consider that Celtic are unbeaten in the last seven fixtures against the Pittodrie side. Celtic have won six of those games and drawn one.

Those comments from Edmondson are the sort of things that Neil Lennon will love to hear though. It seems that Celtic are being written off even though the Hoops have won the last nine titles in Scotland and the last 11 trophies available to the club.

Team seems to be written off

Okay, the performance against Rangers was bad. However, it wasn’t bad enough for Aberdeen to think that they can overtake Celtic surely.

Neil Lennon will no doubt let his Celtic side know about the comments made by Edmondson. He will tell his players, who have dominated Scotland for a decade, that they seem to be written off by a team they have regularly beaten for years.

That should provide motivation for the Hoops. Surely the team will want to show Edmondson and the rest of Scottish football that Celtic aren’t to be written off, and are more than capable of still challenging for the title.

In other news, Neil Lennon spoke to Nir Bitton whilst he was self-isolating.
