Celtic fans are delighted after Adam Idah finally rejoined the club on a permanent basis from Norwich City yesterday evening.

Joining on a five-year contract, the Republic of Ireland international will cost £9.5 million inclusive of bonuses following his excellent loan spell last season.

Coming in on deadline day in January, Idah struck at crucial times for Celtic on their way to securing a domestic double, with braces against Hibernian and Motherwell and goals at Ibrox and Hampden against Rangers forming a fantastic highlight reel.

Nevertheless, the 23-year-old will be squarely focused on the future. Competing with Kyogo Furuhashi for a place in the starting line-up is no easy task. Regardless, plenty of opportunities for the Cork-born frontman to star will fall his way during the season.

Exciting times are ahead for Idah and Celtic. However, it isn’t just Norwich City that will benefit from his big-money transfer.

Adam Idah set to earn his old club a sizeable sum

According to a report from The Irish Examiner, Idah’s move to Celtic is set to benefit his old club, College Corinthians, who are in line to receive a fee of €807,000 (£689,698) due to a sell-on clause.

The windfall specified is likely to be paid across several stages, but it is a handsome reward for the team the Irishman started plying his trade in football for before moving to East Anglia in 2017.

Idah has enjoyed quite the journey in the game, but he will be determined to cement himself further into Celtic’s history after playing a major role in their Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup triumphs last term.

It is nice to see recognition for grassroots football gaining some airtime due to his success. Hopefully, he can continue to blossom at Celtic Park following confirmation of his arrival.

Celtic fans will be relieved at Adam Idah’s arrival

Relief is the overriding feeling as Idah re-enters the Celtic dressing room following a long-running transfer saga that has become the story of the summer.

Now, supporters will be desperate to see more additions before the window closes, given the long season ahead. Further squad depth is needed to give Brendan Rodgers a range of options to breed further success during his second tenure.

Work has been done to reduce bloating among the group. Hyeongyu Oh, Bosun Lawal, Benjamin Siegrist, Sead Haksabanovic, Joe Hart and Hyeokkyu Kwon have all departed to make way for incomings.

The onus is now on Celtic to do business in the market. Deals are there to be done in the latter stages of transfer activity, so hopefully, there will be exciting news on that front before too long.
