Celtic defender Adam Montgomery has completed a loan move to join fellow Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone until January.
The 19-year-old is thought to be highly rated by Ange Postecoglou and his coaching staff, having featured for the first team between July and December last season.
His spell at the Saints will be the youngster’s second temporary move after joining Aberdeen in the second half of the 2021/22 campaign.
The Scotland under-21 internationalist will be hoping for a bit more luck during this loan spell, with his short stay at the Dons being hindered due to injury issues.
Speaking to the St Johnstone website for the first time, after arriving at their pre-season camp in Spain, the left-back expressed his excitement at the opportunity ahead and outlined his goals.
He said: “This is a big opportunity for me and I will be giving it my all every day.
“I’ve arrived at lunchtime today, and I’ve been made to feel very welcome by the manager, his staff and the players.
“Callum Davidson has displayed faith in me by bringing me to St Johnstone on loan, and it’s up to me to show him what I can do.
“My aim is to play as many first-team games as I can and help the team win games of football.
“I’m going to be tested here every day, and I can see the quality on the squad is good. The hard work has started, and I want to show what I’m capable of.
“Every manager wants competition for places, and every player wants to be pushed to their limits.
“That’s the way I want it to be, and I will respond to every challenge put in front of me by giving 100 per cent for this Football Club.”

After showing good promise at points last season, the opportunity to join the McDiarmid Park side could prove to be valuable for the Celtic defender’s development.
Montgomery offers Davidson some much-needed versatility on the left hand and he could be an important player for the first half of the season as the Saints look to bounce back from finishing in the relegation play-off places.
We wish Monty all the best on his loan spell, and hopefully, he comes back a better player at the beginning of next year!
