As Celtic fans celebrate another title win, their minds are being cast back now to 2012.

Many Celtic supporters have this date etched in their minds for different reasons but for Aiden McGeady, the Bhoys’ league title win allowed him to meet one of his heroes.

Back then, McGeady was a mainstay in Gordon Strachan’s team but here, he describes how the league title win of that year allowed him to meet Scottish superstar Paulo Nutini inside Celtic Park.

And what happened during that meeting hit the headlines in Scotland.

Darren O’Dea ‘chucked’ Paulo Nutini in the Celtic bath

Paulo Nutini was an up-and-coming young Scottish musician and then, his debut song ‘Last Request’ peaked at Number 5 in the UK charts.

But when he visited the Celtic dressing room after the SPL title was won, Nutini got more than what he bargained for.

McGeady told BBC Radio Scotland, “I remember this song because Paulo Nutini actually came in the dressing room when I was at Celtic and we just won the league, and we chucked him in the bath.

“Darren O’Dea actually chucked him in the bath and he was a big star at the time. Obviously a big Celtic fan and I remember saying to him. ‘I love your song Last Request’ and he said ‘Cheers mate’.

Aiden McGeady’s Celtic career in numbers

McGeady made his Celtic debut in 2004 under Martin O’Neill. By 2010 he became one of Celtic’s most expensive transfer sales of all time when he joined Spartak Moscow for £9.5m.

But before that move, the Irishman enjoyed immense success at the club so here, 67 Hail Hail takes a look at the numbers that persuaded the Russian club to hand over the guts of £10m for McGeady.

The Irishman was one of the best products to ever come out of the Celtic Academy and his career at Parkhead will never be forgotten by fans.
