Celtic will come up against AIK in the play-off round of Europa League qualifying.

That’s after the Swedish champions came through their third round tie against FC Sheriff.

The clubs may never have met each other but Hoops fans will still be familiar with a few AIK players. Here’s three we picked out.

Seb Larsson

The veteran midfielder is now plying his trade in his homeland after 14 years in England. The 113 time Sweden cap is the vice-captain of AIK and still offers them a creative spark from midfield and deadly set-piece delivery.

At the age of 34 he can still get around the pitch too. Just not quite as much as in previous years. He’s certainly one the Celtic defence will have to keep an eye on in both legs.

Kolbeinn Sigþórsson

The Icelandic striker is best known for scoring the biggest goal in his country’s history. Yes, he netted the all important winner when Iceland famously shocked England at Euro 2016.

The 29-year-old forward was leading the line for Ajax not so long ago and faced Celtic during his stint in Holland. He signed for AIK at the start of this season and has so far netted three goals in all competitions.

Another veteran player that some Celtic fans may be aware of is the Nigerian forward Chinedu Obasi. The 33-year-old has played for the Swedish champions in three different spells during a career that has also seen him ply his trade for Schalke and Hoffenheim (where he linked up with Marvin Compper).

He’s netted seven goals so far this season and will be another threat in the tie.
