Airdrieonians manager Ian Murray appears itching for a decision to be made from Celtic midfielder Kerr McInroy on his future.
The League One club are desperate to extend the Celtic midfielder’s loan move until the end of the season. McInroy spent the first 6 months of the campaign with Murray’s side.
The player’s contract at Parkhead is up in the summer, and the truth is that it doesn’t look as though he’s going to have much of a Celtic future. Another contract, for example, doesn’t appear to be in the pipeline.

And as McInroy weighs up his January options, Murray believes it’s important he makes a quick decision to join his side and play every week. As quoted by the Daily Record, he said: “We’re still talking away. We want Kerr back but, without putting pressure on anybody, the ball is his court.
“It’s as simple as that. I think it is vitally important that Kerr continues his momentum as a footballer and that’s by playing every week.
“The quicker Kerr makes a decision for himself, the better.”
Kerr McInroy looks set to leave Celtic – Airdrieonians seems most likely destination
It’s important that McInroy gets himself back out and playing over the course of the next 5 months. With a contract that’s expiring in the summer, the importance of putting himself in the shop window shouldn’t be underestimated. Especially when you consider the face he would definitely be playing consistently with Airdrie.
It all really depends upon the level at which McInroy sees himself playing in. Does he believe that a move back down to League One is the standard he should be involved in? Ultimately, that depends on who actually comes in for him.
As things stand, Airdrie’s interest is the only confirmed option on the table for him. There hasn’t been news of any further reported offers from elsewhere. That matters.

It’s massive 5 months for McInroy’s career. It’s important to remember that he’s only 21 years of age. He’s still a boy with so much learning and growth still to do on and off the pitch. So a move to Airdrie until the end of the season would make logical sense ahead of the summer.
It remains to be seen if Celtic believe a new deal should be put on the table for Kerr. But given the competition in midfield, it would be wise for him to get out there and ensure his stock rises before his current contract is up.
Hopefully, he makes a decision soon and gets himself back out playing again.
