Celtic’s 2-1 win over Hearts at Tynecastle could go down as a pivotal moment in the title race. Odsonne Edouard’s late winner maintained an eight point lead at the top of the table.
Looking back on the game, interim boss Neil Lennon will be happy with the performances of most of his players. There is one player he might not be happy with however – Kristoffer Ajer.

Mistake led to penalty
Ajer was to blame for the penalty which led to Hearts’ equalizer, as he and Scott Bain messed around at the back, and the defender fouled Arnaud Djoum.

Thankfully, Edouard’s winner saved the day but the penalty incident will have given Lennon plenty to think about.
Struggled to cope
Ajer seemed to be caught out quite a lot during the game, and he struggled to cope with the power of Uche Ikpeazu.

Therefore, Lennon should consider dropping Ajer and bringing back Jozo Simunovic for Saturday’s Scottish Cup tie against Hibernian.
If Ajer repeats his mistake against Hibs it could see the Hoops eliminated from the cup. It isn’t worth taking a gamble over. Simunvoic is full of experience, and he is more than capable of taking Ajer’s place in the side.
Ajer no doubt will have a role to play during the rest of the season. But for the cup tie at Easter Road he should be on the bench.
