When the end of season awards are handed out, the Celtic players most likely to be given honours look to be Callum McGregor and James Forrest.
Both players have enjoyed superb seasons, and would be fully deserving of the honours. However, there is a player who deserves to be considered almost as highly as those two – Kristoffer Ajer.
Best season at the club

Ajer has had undeniably his best season at the club so far. He has overcome plenty to establish himself as a first-team regular.
Firstly, he suffered a horrific eye injury which kept him out of action for over a month. Secondly, he has rarely had a set partner at the back when he has played for the Hoops.

Standard hasn’t dropped
At different times, he has played with Filip Benkovic, Dedryck Boyata, and now Jozo Simunovic. All the while, his standard hasn’t dropped.

With the likes of Boyata and Benkovic likely to leave Celtic at the end of the season, Ajer could well be the number one centre-back at Celtic next season.
If that is the case, his performances this season will hopefully be noted by the manager next season, be it Neil Lennon or someone else.
Ajer has played 39 games for the Hoops this season, which is a more than respectable amount. Next season it could be more than that, then perhaps he will get the accolades he deserves.
