Albian Ajeti is clearly taking a bit of credit for Celtic’s impressive result in Lille – if a humorous social media response is anything to go by.

The Swiss striker may not have netted any goals in the 2-2 draw with the Ligue 1 side, but he still thinks he’s worthy of some praise from two-goal hero Mohamed Elyounoussi.

As the Norwegian took to Instagram on Friday morning, his team-mate Ajeti was keen to make sure everyone saw the influence he had on the game.

The striker cheekily replied to Elyounoussi’s generic post-match post, simply saying “You’re welcome”.

Ajeti and Elyounoussi link-up was encouraging

With Ajeti and Elyounoussi both brought in by Neil Lennon this summer, there were real hopes that the pair could form a really strong partnership on the pitch.

They had played together years ago at Basel – and Hoops fans were very excited to see them link back up in green and white.

My colleague John was very much of that opinion – and he even shared this footage of the pair together prior to Ajeti’s arrival in August.

However, we had seen precious little of the duo working in tandem, prior to last night.

During the game in the north of France, the pair showed real flashes of brilliance and were linked in both sublime goals.

Prior to that, Ajeti should really have scored after being tee’d up by… you guessed it… Elyounoussi.

The two’s on-field relationship is something we can look forward to for the rest of the season. Both should see a lot of game time, even if Odsonne Edouard’s return may make life tough for Ajeti.

There were lots and lots of positives from France on Thursday. But Elyounoussi and Ajeti may just have stolen the show. Both on and off the pitch.
