Alan Brazil’s take on Ange Postecoglou is one of the most badly-aged football media clips of all time.
Back in 2021, the news that Celtic were applying for UEFA clearance sent the radio host off on one, as he cried ‘is this a wind-up?’ and ‘where do they find these people?’
Fast forward a year, and Postecoglou had taken a Celtic side from finishing 25 points behind Rangers to league and cup double. For good measure, he added a treble the following year.
We now find ourselves in a similar position, with another relatively-unknown coach in Wilfried Nancy. There are differences in circumstances, but many are still making the comparison.
And just as Brazil was about to go off on one again, Gabby Agbonlahor brilliantly called him out.

It’s understandable that many fans are unhappy with the departure of Martin O’Neill, given the success of his interim spell.
Of course, Agbonlahor broke through at Aston Villa under the guidance of the Hoops legend.

But bemoaning the departure of O’Neill and writing off Nancy are two different things – and Brazil wasn’t happy to be reminded of this by Agbonlahor, on Thursday morning’s talkSPORT.
Brazil said: “My question is, and I don’t want to start antagonising things, but why didn’t they just leave Martin until the end of the year?
“Does Martin not want to do it? Does he look to you like he wants to give it up.]?
Agbonlahor replied: “No, he looks like he’s having the time of his life.
“And those were his exact words: ‘I’ve had the time of my life, for six weeks.’ But Alan, maybe we don’t know what’s happened. Maybe Martin didn’t want it for longer.
“And this new manager? You can’t say anything about him. Cos you done that with Ange, didn’t you?
“And it backfired. It did, though.”
Brazil was successfully wound up, and hit back saying: “Don’t look at me like that. The reason why I said that was because I didn’t know who he was. I don’t know who this guy is!
Agbonlahor pushed him: “But you can’t say that now, because he might come and do well for Celtic.”
And Brazil butted straight back in: “I can give an opinion. I can give an opinion. I didn’t know him!
“And did [Ange] take the [English] Premiership by storm? Did he? I’ve got two of them [Europa Leagues].”
Former striker Brazil, firmly on the defensive there.
Why have Celtic hired Wilfried Nancy?
So why have Celtic hired Nancy? Well, perhaps the decisive factor is the fact that Celtic’s Head of Football Operations, Paul Tisdale, is familiar with his assistant Kwame Ampadu from their time at Exeter.
But it’s more than just that. Nancy guided CF Montreal to their highest-ever MLS finish in just his second year in management, before moving onto Columbus Crew.
There, he won the MLS Cup in his first year with a brand of football spoken about throughout the continent. He followed this up with a Leagues Cup win and a run to the CONCACAF Champions Cup final the following year.
This won him the MLS Coach of the Year, and he now finds himself gearing up for his first match in charge of Celtic.
