Outspoken radio pundit Alan Brazil reckons there’s some disharmony between Celtic manager Neil Lennon and club captain Scott Brown.

The talkSPORT host reckons he spotted a falling out between the pair during Sunday’s Premiership defeat to Livingston. Brazil told ‘The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast‘ on talkSPORT (7th October, 7am) that Brown didn’t shake his manager’s hand when brought off during the 2-0 loss.

“Celtic never turned up,” he said. “It’s a weird one and Rangers go top. Before I get pelters, there’s something not right.

“There were too many Celtic players who were like, ‘what are we doing here on this plastic pitch?’, which is not right.

“I don’t know what happened but Scott Brown came off near the end and there were no handshakes with Lenny, so I don’t know if there has been a problem or if they have had a row in the dressing room. Maybe not just Brown, or Neil Lennon, but one or two of the players, they weren’t at the races.”

Lennon and Brown seemed to get on fine on Thursday

Brazil seems pretty convinced that there’s something untoward going on at the club but we should take what he says with a pinch of salt. First off, the broadcaster will be looking to sell controversy on his show in order to gain more listeners. Stories of unrest are far more likely to get people listening than tales of all being well.

People like Brazil have made claims already this season about disharmony at the club, and they’ve been proven to be false. There was talk of a rift between Brown and Lennon earlier this campaign following the defeat to Cluj and both men – rather believably – put that one to bed.

You didn’t seem to hear much talk of unrest following Thursday night’s win over Cluj in the Europa League. The players looked like they were playing for each other and really buying into the manager’s plan.

Brown was excellent that night and it’s hard to believe that everything has turned sour in three days.

The Livingston defeat was a bad result, but it was only one result. The big task for Lennon, Brown and their team now is how they respond – starting with Ross County at home in a fortnight.
