Celtic’s Champions League campaign thus far has been impressive to say the least.
The Hoops have beaten RB Leipzig and Young Boys at home in front of a packed out crowd while some of their away results have also been impressive including their Herculean defensive display in Bergamo against Atalanta.
Brendan Rodgers‘ side know tomorrow’s knockout playoff first-leg against Bayern Munich will be a difficult and altogether different challenge but they will surely be ready.
Former Celtic and Bayern striker Alan McInally has been previewing the tie between his two ex-clubs and he expects an intriguing fixture and 90 minutes of action in Glasgow.
The 61-year-old believes Celts can have a go at their Bundesliga giant opponents as there should be nothing for the Scottish Premiership leaders to fear.
With a capacity stadium rocking in the east end, McInally feels Celtic can cause an upset.
And they should use some of Bayern’s League Phase results as inspiration.

Alan McInally says Bayern Munich have a ‘vulnerability’ Celtic can benefit from
“They’ll give it a go,” McInally said of Celtic ahead of their Euro tie tomorrow evening.
“What they do have in their favour is Celtic Park. I don’t care if you’ve never been to a Celtic match. If you can somehow get to Celtic Park on a Champions League night, it really is pretty special.
“Genuinely. And as players, I witnessed it loads of times. You know, it can take you through the games.
“They can certainly be a 12th man. It will be a tough draw for Celtic. It really will.
“Bayern are favourites. Listen, they never made the top eight Bayern. So there’s a vulnerability there.
“They’re only in the playoffs, so there’s much pressure on Bayern, if not more, than there is on Celtic. And you’re reliant on Harry Kane.”
Celtic’s form heading into Champions League tie vs Bayern Munich
| Celtic’s recent form before Bayern | Bayern’s recent form before Celtic |
| vs Raith Rovers (won 5-0) | vs Werder Bremen (won 3-0) |
| vs Dundee (won 6-0) | vs Holstein Kiel (won 4-3) |
| vs Motherwell (won 3-1) | vs Slovan Bratislava (won 3-1) |
| vs Aston Villa (lost 2-4) | vs Freiburg (won 2-1) |
| vs Young Boys (won 1-0) | vs Feyenoord (lost 3-0) |
Rodgers ensured the full focus last weekend was on Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup to avoid complacency but now the Irishman has been able to have both eyes on the Euro clash.
Celtic were relieved to learn they had won their appeal against Daizen Maeda’s suspension.
That means the buzzbomb Japanese attacker can play from the start in both legs.
After changes were made to Celtic’s Euro squad, Jota is another option for Rodgers to pick from kick-off in this one.
The Hoops are in fine form and have romped to victories in their two most recent outings.
So confidence is high before Champions League crunch time.
