Albania president Ilir Meta has once again been showing his love for Celtic on social media.

Meta has recently been converted after meeting Celtic fans in Sarajevo. He was also given a Hoops top as a present by former Celt Rudi Vata. This something Meta has spoken about in the past (The Scotsman). One glance at his Twitter profile shows you all you need to know about how much he adores the club these days.

Meta reacts to almost every game, and his social media is generally filled with Celtic posts. It’s a pretty great sight and credit to him for having no fear in expressing his allegiance.

And he’s once again sent a message to the Celtic supporters as he showed his keepy-uppy skills in Durres.

It’s clear that Vata has definitely gotten Celtic ingrained into the Albanian president’s head. He can’t help but express his love for the club at every opportunity, and it’s clear he enjoys keeping tabs on them.

Ilir Meta’s Celtic support doesn’t come across as a publicity stunt

There’s perhaps nothing greater than seeing foreign football fans being converted into the Celtic way. It shows just how incredible a reach this football club has.

Meta certainly has no previous Celtic connection outside of Vata and from meeting the fans. He just seems to have an infectious love for the club that suddenly rivals all of ours.

It’s unusual for a country leader to be expressing such support of a foreign football side. You can’t imagine it’s what Albanian nationals care mostly about when it comes to their leader’s Twitter. But fair doos – you can’t take Celtic out the Celtic fan.

As for his footballing skills, we could’ve done with that kind of ball control at Livingston two weeks ago! In all seriousness, hopefully we see him over at Parkhead someday to watch our beloved Hoops.

Celtic face Ross County after what’s seemed like an eternal wait for domestic football to return this Saturday. The Hoops will hopefully get back to winning ways and get the supporters back enjoying their football once again.
