Albian Ajeti spotted in Celtic training video after Lennon disclosed hamstring injury
Celtic striker Albian Ajeti has been pictured back in training with the Hoops squad after Neil Lennon had previously disclosed a hamstring injury.
The Swiss forward missed the game against St Johnstone on Sunday in what looked like a surprising move from the manager to keep him out of the squad. However, post-match, Lennon said the following to Celtic TV:
“We need a little bit more support for Odsonne at times in the final third. Ajeti – he was out with a hamstring (issue) today. But we need more quality in the final third, and the players have got it.”
Just the mention of the word “hamstring” gets every football supporter terrified, especially Celtic fans regarding Ajeti’s fitness concerns since joining the club in the summer.
However, fortunately, Ajeti has been pictured in training today via the club’s official video on social media. Celtic tweeted a short video of some of the pre-game training drills ahead of the match with Lille tomorrow, and the Swiss forward was right in amongst it doing some cardio work:

The most important thing to take away from this is that it doesn’t look as though Ajeti’s injury doesn’t appear to be a bad one. In fact, it’s pretty evident that it’s better than first feared by the supporters.
The former West Ham United forward has yet to play a 90-minute match since signing for Celtic, and hasn’t managed to find the net since September either. It’s become evident that he’s in need of a shot in the arm from somewhere.
But with form like that, the last thing he needed was a prolonged injury layoff. Not when we have games against bottom six clubs coming up as well as a derby at Ibrox and a cup final vs Hearts at Hampden. These are the moments that can spark him back to life in a Celtic shirt.
Of course, tomorrow night’s match against Lille at Celtic Park could be another matter altogether. Lennon has already stated that the game will be used for some of the squad players such as Patryk Klimala. If Ajeti is to get on the pitch, it looks like it could be from the bench.
However, so long as he’s fit and good to go against Kilmarnock on Sunday, that’s all that really matters here.
