Alessio’s media treatment similar to Celtic man Deila

Kilmarnock manager Angelo Alessio is getting the Ronny Deila treatment at Celtic from the media.

The European slip up against Connah’s Quay Nomads is bringing out the worst in folk.

A Daily Record article over the weekend is generating some negative criticism. However, it isn’t the only uncalled for press against him which is similar to what Deila received.

Both inherited a successful team from the previous season, but failed to qualify for their European target.

The difference being Deila qualifying for the Europa League last 32 as a lifeline.

Nevertheless, the likes of Chris Sutton and others in the media were looking for Deila’s blood.

Similarly, Alessio is getting it in the neck for losing to the Welsh runners-up in qualifying. It’s completely unfair on the Italian as he has only had a few games under his belt. The result is embarrassing but there is a clear overreaction by everyone.

Deila was also criticised in the same manner when there were other complications going on at Celtic. This is an element of Scottish fitba mentality that needs to be driven out.

Managers must have a chance in Scotland

Gaffers and players, especially foreign ones, appear to be treated differently at times by the press.

A shocking piece on Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos shows a strange attitude by some writers.

Likewise, the Daily Record Alessio piece proves that there is no change in that mentality.

Deila was constantly bashed while at Celtic despite being an awful handball decision away from a treble.

It seems to be an element Scottish mentality not to take to someone that’s unknown.

Talking about mozzarella and pizza fries beggars belief when it comes to writing seriously about football. Fans and the media should treat anyone coming into our game with the utmost respect they deserve.
