Alexandro Bernabei hits transfer roadblock as Celtic tell Internacional how much they want for defender

Alexandro Bernabei has been an enigma from the minute he signed for Celtic back in 2022.

Celtic paid Lanus almost £4m for Bernabei as Ange Postecoglou looked to bolster his left-back position and offer competition for Greg Taylor.

However, the form of the Scotland defender coupled with Bernabei having some discipline issues meant that the Argentine found it difficult to stake a claim in the Celtic first-team and Bernabei is now enjoying a spell on loan at Internacional.

Internacional are said to be interested in retaining Bernabei’s services after his loan spell ends but it seems that the is a major stumbling block in place according to a report from Brazil.

Celtic’s asking price for Bernabei is £8million

It seems that Celtic are willing to sell Bernabei to get the left-back off their books but according to Porto do Colorado, the price the Parkhead club are demanding is too rich for the high-flying Brazilian club.

The report says Inter are looking to ‘acquire’ Bernabei and that Celtic are looking for a fee of around €10m (£8.32m).

The report also says that the Argentine wants to stay in Brazil so that he can play in the Copa Libertadores with his loan club.

The price Celtic are quoting seems to be too rich for Inter and the Brazilian club has not ruled out renewing Bernabei’s loan deal until 2025.

Alexandro Bernabei’s Celtic exit is nearing

Labelled a ‘disgrace’ by Celtic hero John Hartson for his part in Celtic losing to Kilmarnock last season, Rodgers clearly doesn’t fancy the 24-year-old after using him on just nine occasions.

With the Celtic boss bringing Alex Valle to the club on-loan, it seems Rodgers would rather look at alternatives than recall Bernabei who is enjoying a rich vein of form at his temporary club.

Whether Celtic will get anywhere near to the fee they seem to be demanding from Internacional is one thing but one thing seems certain.

The chances of seeing Bernabei in a Celtic shirt again are close to zero as the Hoops look to offload their first-ever signing from Argentina.
