Life is going smoothly for Alistair Johnston at Celtic and Canada.

Brendan Rodgers’ side headed into the final international break of 2024 in strong form, both in the Premiership and the Champions League.

You could argue that Celtic produced their best week of the season so far last time out, with three outstanding results in three different competitions.

From Celtic thrashing Aberdeen in the League Cup semi-final, outclassing RB Leipzig in the Champions League and then grinding out three points against Kilmarnock in the Premiership.

Fans can’t have too much to complain about because everything is going smoothly in all competitions ahead of a crucial and schedule-packed winter period.

Many players have played their part in the Bhoys performing so well, but one man is standing above them all.

Alistair Johnston praises Celtic teammate Nicolas Kuhn on Canada duty

Canada beat Suriname 1-0 in the first leg of their Concacaf Nations League quarter-final, with Johnston starting the game in a back five.

On the domestic stage, he is used to playing right-back, with Nicolas Kuhn ahead of him and he praised the in-form star.

Johnston stated that Kuhn has been in ‘great form’ and the duo are building ‘a really good partnership’, as he told OneSoccer.

“For me, the biggest thing is, how can I contribute defensively,” said Johnston. “Remain a really solid defender one-v-one. Attach the backline and remain a really solid unit.

“But then, with my physicality. Underlaps and overlaps. Nick Kuhn has been in great form for me and in front of me. Just supporting him and getting into dangerous positions.

“So far this year we have had a really good partnership there. It has been doing well, both domestically and on the European front. Happy with that.”

Kuhn’s form for Celtic

Kuhn is the best player in Scotland right now and he has filled the void left by the summer departee Matt O’Riley.

Yes, the duo are completely different players, but O’Riley was the main guy last season, and now Kuhn is showing he will go down that same road.

21 goals contributions at this stage of the season is outstanding, including scoring goals at important moments, as he proved against Leipzig and Kilmarnock.
