Alistair Johnston gets Postecoglou and Celtic mission already; St. Mirren midweek question answered brilliantly

Alistair Johnston is already aware of what Ange Postecoglou wants from his Celtic players in every match, including tonight against St. Mirren.

The Canadian full-back may only have made his Hoops debut a fortnight ago, but his transition to life at the club has appeared seamless from the outside.

Johnston has performed well on the pitch in his first two appearances, while he’s already been put up for interviews and press conferences on several occasions too.

He was in front of the Celtic TV cameras ahead of tonight’s fixture at Celtic Park, and gave a brilliant answer that shows he gets exactly what his manager wants.

When asked about our 2-0 defeat to St. Mirren in mid-September, he said:

“I wasn’t here for it, but of course we all know that was the one that we dropped all three points in.

“So that’s a frustrating one for the group. But, at the same time, we look at it as just another match.

“It doesn’t matter what our history is with them. It’s just another chance for us to play in front of our crowd and show how we want to play.

“We feel like if we do that, and we impose ourselves on whoever it is, especially when they come to Celtic Park, that things will go our way.”

This emphatic answer chimes with what Ange Postecoglou said yesterday in his pre-match press conference.

Revenge wouldn’t be on his players’ minds. It was simply about being the best version of themselves on the night.

Johnston is clearly very switched on and aware of his surroundings. But his answer also shows a clear vision at the club that has been passed on to him in his early days.

It’s encouraging that we seem to have signed yet another player who is a good performer and gets what it’s all about to play under Postecogolou.
