Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has credited Celtic for their title win last season as he looked ahead to 2022/23.
Van Bronckhorst arrived at Ibrox with his team 6 points clear at the top of the table. However, Ange Postecoglou’s relentless Celtic side dominated the second half of the campaign and overseen a 10-point swing that brought the title back to Parkhead.
In addition to that, Ange only lost once to van Bronckhorst in 4 meetings as Celtic produced a stirring run of form that our rivals couldn’t keep up with.

And as the Rangers boss looked ahead to the new campaign, he was happy to credit Celtic for their success. Speaking via Football Daily, he said: “Well we have to be up for it. They were champions last year. Of course when you are first at the end of the season, you deserve the championship. So all credit to them.
“But it’s a new season ahead. We are here to be successful for this club. We have to be very consistent throughout the whole season especially of course in the league.
“The margin I think is very close and the margin for errors can’t be very big. So we have to be ready and we’re looking ahead to the challenge.”
Giovanni van Bronckhorst under big pressure as Celtic look to evolve
Van Bronckhorst’s run to the Europa League final, impressive as it was, certainly bought him stock when it came to his domestic failures. He came second best to Celtic over the course of the season and it wasn’t something the media were too keen to criticise him for.
Goodness knows what it would’ve been like for Ange if he had failed to deliver last season. Especially considering the reaction he was given when he first arrived in the country.
However, now the tables have turned. It’s the Celtic boss who has already proven himself whilst it’s the Ibrox manager who’s now under severe pressure.

Celtic look primed to fire some intense questions Rangers’ way from the early stages of the new season. A slow start to the league campaign for van Bronckhorst and you can best our rivals’ supporters will begin to lose patience. His position isn’t as enviable as some would have you believe after last term.
Not that Ange will be looking too much at what’s happening over there. He’s always been very clear that Celtic set their own standards and only look to improve upon their own displays – not in comparison to anyone else.
But make no mistake, the pressure is on van Bronckhorst and his Rangers side. The momentum is all with the champions.
