‘I like him..’ Ally McCoist can’t hide his admiration for Celtic star brought in by Brendan Rodgers

Celtic are having a tremendous season on all fronts.

From the Premiership to the Champions League, you can’t have too many complaints as Brendan Rodgers’ second stint as Celtic manager continues to go from strength to strength.

But you needed something to show for it and the players did just that when Celtic beat Rangers in the League Cup final over the weekend.

Yes, the overall performance wasn’t great and penalties were needed, but the key players stepped up in the big moments.

From Daizen Maeda’s winning penalty to Nicolas Kuhn turning on the magic in the second half. It’s why Celtic are champions.

And even Ally McCoist was impressed.

Like many of the Celtic players, it was an off-colour opening 45 minutes from Kuhn, but then, Greg Taylor’s equalising goal flicked a switch and normal service resumed.

Kuhn looked like his old self again and McCoist noted the speed of the German out of the wings and how ‘I like him’, as he told talkSPORT (18/12/24 at 6:10 am).

“I tell you, the boy on the right-hand side is quick, Kuhn, oooof,” said McCoist and Alan Brazil responded: “Oh, he’s a good player. He’s a good player.”

McCoist then added: “I like him. He’s quick. Really quick.”

Kuhn is Celtic’s best player right now

Alistair Johnston is having another underrated season, Maeda is becoming popular by the day and Callum McGregor is leading by example.

But Kuhn holds the mantel of being Celtic’s best player right now because his form has been out of this world.

This was a player who was being questioned when Rodgers first brought him in during the January transfer window, but all of that has now gone out of the window.

As posted by Transfermart, Kuhn already has 22 goal involvements to his name and there is still half a season to go.
