Celtic fans will still be over the moon and likely still celebrating this morning after the League Cup final win over Rangers at Hampden yesterday.
Celtic and Rangers served up a six-goal Hampden thriller in a Glasgow Derby final that will live long in the memory of the Parkhead support.
Battling back from a goal down to then go ahead twice, Rangers pegged back Celtic as the Ibrox club gave it everything to win the final.
In the end, it wasn’t enough and Kasper Schmeichel’s penalty save set up Daizen Maeda to win Celtic the cup after he converted his spot kick to secure the club’s 119th trophy in their history.
Ally McCoist was at the game as a fan as he shared how he really felt walking out of Hampden after watching Celtic beat Rangers on penalties.
Ally McCoist’s ‘bizarre’ reaction to Celtic beating Rangers in League Cup
On the Hampden atmosphere, McCoist told talkSPORT, “Unbelievable, it was incredible. I have been to a good few of them over the years, but it was fantastic.
“I was up, I was down and I was on the floor. The atmosphere was absolutely magic. I was there with the boys and it was brilliant and it was bizarre leaving the stadium because, as gutted as we all were and Rangers supporters will be gutted, there was a kind of, I don’t know if acceptance is the right word.
“But the boys were definitely happier with the team’s performance in the last couple of games.”
Ally McCoist says ‘poor decisions’ cost Rangers vs Celtic in League Cup final
McCoist lamented the defeat as he said that poor decision by Rangers cost them the cup against Celtic.
“There is no doubt about it,” continued McCoist, “The Spurs game and the Celtic game yesterday, if somebody asked you four or five weeks ago, ‘how would those two games go?’ then they would have had to be the most positive guy on the planet to have said ‘Rangers will get something from either of those games’.

“So great game. Listen, disappointed with the result. A few poor decisions cost us. But that’s football. Looking back on it, with the chance at 1-0 when we went through four-on-one. We should have done better there.”
Rangers now need to go back to the drawing board and figure out a way to try and beat Celtic because, and let’s be honest, Celtic were not at their best and Rangers gave it everything but still couldn’t get that win that has eluded Philippe Clement in the Glasgow Derby.
With the first piece of silverware in the Parkhead trophy cabinet, Celtic’s next fixtures could shape up their season over the next few weeks.
Dundee United (H), Motherwell (A) and St Johnstone (H), if Celtic win all these three fixtures over the Christmas period then the Scottish Premiership table could look a lot stronger than it does at the minute.
