With Celtic ready to kick off their Champions League adventure in just over 24 hours time, excitement is building ahead of the visit of Slovan Bratislava.
The Celtic fans will be confident of seeing their team pick up three points against the Slovakians in Paradise tomorrow to get the campaign off to a positive start.
Celtic have a good chance of making it out of the league phase for the first time since 2013 if they manage to win all four home games.
And whilst the Celtic support is confident, Ally McCoist shares how he really thinks Brendan Rodgers’ side will do.
McCoist: ‘Celtic have got a great draw’
With eight games in the new format, McCoist believes Celtic have a ‘fantastic’ chance of progression after being drawn against the likes of Bratislava, Dinamo Moscow and Young Boys.
McCoist told talkSPORT, “By the way, I think Celtic have got a great draw. A fantastic draw. They go down to Villa.
“You can argue in terms of the draw for Celtic, it’s maybe not the most glamorous of draws and I can understand and accept that however, I think Celtic have got maybe four or five games where they can look at and say, ‘We could win these’.
“And that’s maybe the big difference. Because if you get that group section with maybe two bigger teams, you’ll say it’s going to be very difficult.”
Celtic must win home Champions League home games
If Celtic can take maximum points from their Champions League fixtures against Bratislava, Clubb Brugge, and Young Boys then they have a great chance of progressing.
Celtic will also be confident of securing a result against RB Leipzig as well and if they can grab anything from tough away trips to Atalanta, Borussia Dortmund and Aston Villa would be a bonus and Rodgers will also fancy his chances away to Dinamo Zagreb.
I agree with McCoist. This is a good draw for Celtic and the Bhoys have a great chance of progressing if they can take their impressive domestic form into the games against Europe’s elite clubs.
