Ally McCoist told to ‘close his ears’ as Ross McCormack delivers his Celtic vs Rangers Glasgow Derby prediction

As well as the transfer window, Celtic fans also have the small matter of the upcoming Glasgow Derby match against Rangers to contend with this week.

And what makes this game all the more interesting is that Brendan Rodgers will need to negotiate the fixture without Matt O’Riley who sealed his Celtic exit to Brighton yesterday.

Celtic proved on Sunday that they can cope without the Dane after comfortably beating St Mirren in Paisley but as the big game arrives, nerves will start to build.

And offering his prediction on how the Glasgow Derby fixture will go, former Rangers midfielder Ross McCormack reckons he can ‘only see one outcome’ for the game.

Only ‘one outcome’ for Celtic vs Rangers game

Asked by Gabby Agbonlahor for his big match prediction, McCormack said Ally McCoist might need to cover his ears as he predicted the outcome of the Celtic Park clash.

McCormack told McCoist on talkSPORT, “I think Ally may want to close his ears here. I only see one outcome with the way Celtic are playing.

“I know Rangers had a great result at the weekend, but just the way they [Celtic] are playing.

“I think like I said there in the Everton game, it will be similar to the Old F*rm game. If Rangers can deal with Celtic in the first 20-25 minutes, they’ll have a chance.

“But the way Celtic have started games this season has been absolutely frightening.”

Fast Celtic start will be key vs Rangers

Celtic have been blistering in their start to the new domestic season so far. In four fixtures in the league and League Cup, Brendan Rodgers‘ side have been scoring early and have seen themselves coast to two-goal first-half leads in all of their fixtures.

As every Celtic fan knows, these games can be nervy and a quick start goes a long way to calm those nerves and assert dominance in the game.

Rodgers was undefeated against the Ibrox club last season as Celtic won the double and on Sunday, the Hoops boss has the perfect opportunity to create a five-point gap and set down an early marker for the defence of his Scottish Premiership crown.
