Chris Sutton and Ally McCoist reckon Steve Clarke should deploy Celtic star James Forrest on the right flank for Scotland against England at Wembley tomorrow night.
Forrest has failed to start Scotland’s last two internationals against Czech Republic and Luxembourg. He did get an hour under his belt in a warm-up draw against the Netherlands.
However, the 29-year-old only got eleven minutes on the pitch at Hampden on Monday.
Arguably, Forrest would have been a more effective option against the Czechs than against England. However, with Scotland badly needing a result to keep their Euro 2020 hopes alive, McCoist wants the attack-minded winger in the team.
In a video posted to the BT Sport Twitter account, the former Rangers man includes Forrest in his starting eleven for tomorrow night’s fixture.
It’s a view shared by Chris Sutton – who reckons that the Celtic winger can be a ‘ball carrier’ for Scotland in a match they are not expected to have the majority of possession in.
Michael Stewart was unhappy with the way Forrest was used against the Czechs too, as we discussed earlier in the week. So three of the most prominent pundits in the country reckon that Clarke should be using the attacker more.
Whether it’s because of a lack of fitness or faith, Clarke apparently disagrees.

I’d love to see the Celtic academy graduate start tomorrow. He may not have always performed in a big way for Scotland, but everyone knows he has the potential to.
Against England, we need that hope.
