Celtic’s Europa League record away from home isn’t that bad if you look into the form.
Yes, Celtic have failed to win in any of their 14 previous attempts to win a group game away from Celtic Park.
Actually, Celtic’s only away win in the competition is a 3-0 win over FC Sion. Yes, that game that was awarded to Celtic after losing 3-1 due to Sion fielding ineligible players.
However, Celtic have some decent results on the road in the competition.

This year marks Celtic’s fifth entry into the Europa League group stage. By Thursday night Celtic will have played 15 away games in the format. In their previous 14, Celtic have drawn eight times and only lost six.
Two of those losses came this year, meaning Celtic had a 2:1 draw to loss ratio in the competition before then.
MORE CELTIC STORIES
There’s been some creditable results for Celtic too, notably the 2-2 with FC Salzburg in 2014.
Celtic also managed a respectable 0-0 draw away to Hamburg in 2009. That same year they came back from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 against Rapid Vienna.

In those 14 games over the years, Celtic have notched 16 goals. Although these may be skewed by two games where Celtic banged in three away goals, it is an impressive stat.
Unfortunately for Celtic, in that time they’ve shipped 26 goals, and it has often been their defending that let them down away from home.
Looking at the bare stats, Celtic’s Europa League away from looks horrible. Zero wins is the stat that matters most when looking at results.

A draw won’t do this time
Celtic will be hoping it’s a case of 15th time lucky when they travel to Trondheim in Thursday.
Draws against Ajax and Fenerbahce prove that Celtic can go to tough away venues and get a result.
However, draws in Astra and heavy defeats in Molde prove they’re just as capable of throwing away crucial points when they’re expected to win.
With Rosenborg already out of the competition, Celtic will never have a better chance to break their Europa League duck away from home.
Even if the stats aren’t that bad, they’d look a lot better with a win backing them up.
