Celtic are the only team unbeaten in the Premiership this season.
Brendan Rodgers won the double last season, but the performances weren’t as good as they are now because Celtic have been outstanding.
That was proven at the weekend when Celtic put four goals past Hearts, even though the team only turned up in the second-half at Tynecastle.
Just hours earlier, Aberdeen were beaten at St Mirren and third-placed Rangers dropped further points at home to Dundee United.
That meant that the Bhoys were three points clear at the top, but then the Dons played Hibernian on Tuesday night and they were involved in a crazy 3-3 draw, with three goals scored in stoppage-time from both teams.
The lead is now two points, with the champions having a game in hand and preparing to visit Pittodrie next week in the Premiership.
Before that game, Motherwell midfielder Andy Halliday expressed his worry as to what Celtic could be about to do this season.
Andy Halliday says Celtic will win Premiership title by ‘record points’ margin
Even though Rangers are nine points behind second-placed Aberdeen, Halliday still feels his former side will secure that runners-up spot.
But that’s where his nightmare becomes a reality because he thinks Celtic will win the title by a ‘record points’ margin and he suggested it could be ’20+ points’, as he told Open Goal.
Last season, Celtic won the title by eight points and they weren’t even at their best, including by 30 points during the 2016/17 season, but Aberdeen finished second then and Rangers were 39 points behind.
“I still think they (Rangers) will finish second,” said Halliday to which Ross McCormack added: “I still see them finishing second. I don’t think they will run away with second, it will be tight, but they will get there.”
Halliday added: “I think the same. What is the record points that they have finished behind Celtic? I honestly, Celtic are (winning the league by) 20 points+.”
Celtic’s upcoming fixtures
The fixtures from now until the New Year are huge for Celtic and it will define their season – or how comfortable it will be for the crunch moments of the campaign.
There are two European matches to deal with – starting with Celtic hosting Club Brugge on Wednesday night before a trip to Croatia in December.
But, in and around that, Aberdeen and Rangers in the league – both away from home – as well as that League Cup final at Hampden.
Do the business in those matches and the second half of the campaign can be a memorable one for Celtic, that’s for sure.
