Celtic fans will be expecting Martin O’Neill to bring normality to proceedings against Dundee United on Saturday.
Everyone, even the Celtic players, were puzzled by what Wilfried Nancy was trying to cook in Glasgow because it was a recipe for disaster.
From wacky starting XIs and confusing substitutions. It was beyond baffling, as Liam Scales was one of the victims of Nancy’s ill-fated reign.
When Scales started for Celtic under his now-departed coach, he was practically playing as a left-sided wing-back.
To nobody’s surprise, it didn’t go as planned for the Republic of Ireland star, and he was dropped to the bench, but Andy Halliday has given the centre-back his flowers and thinks he needs to be starting again.

Is Liam Scales really undroppable for Celtic? Who could replace him?

Andy Halliday says Liam Scales is ‘proper under appreciated’ at Celtic
Auston Trusty was woeful against Rangers, and he didn’t cover himself in glory. But you can say the same for many of the Celtic players.
That was mentioned on Open Goal, including Si Ferry claiming that this is the ‘softest Celtic team I have ever seen.’
That’s when Halliday gave Scales his flowers, including how he is ‘proper under-appreciated’ at Celtic because he is the one who can actually defend.
Paul Slane: “Are you surprised Nancy preferred him (Trusty) ahead of Scales? I don’t think Scales is brilliant. But he is better than Trusty, isn’t he?”
Halliday: “I have said it a few times. I think Scales is proper under-appreciated at Celtic. I am not saying for a minute that he is a world beater. But he is someone who can defend his box.”
Ferry: “It’s probably the softest Celtic team I have ever seen. Who tackles?”

Scales’ stats for Celtic this season
Celtic haven’t been great all season long, and there have been a few moments to cheer, such as the away win in Feyenoord under O’Neill.
But if there is any player who has probably been consistent or better than most, you could argue that Scales is that guy.
