Life isn’t easy when you are playing as a back-up striker, but Hyeongyu Oh has always remained grounded and now he is getting his rewards.

Whenever Brendan Rodgers has handed him a chance, whether it’s 12 minutes or a start from the off, he has always played with a burning desire which Celtic fans love.

Well, in midweek, Hyeongyu Oh was rewarded with a brilliant brace, as the team comfortably saw off in-form Hibernian.

Andy Walker has now backed Hyeongyu Oh to, once again, start the trip to Kilmarnock on Sunday and added he is a man ‘on top form’, as he told Go Radio

You can’t really argue against the 22-year-old not being handed another start because it’s not like Kyogo Furuhashi is in red-hot form – or the duo could play together.

Celtic’s main man up top could probably do with a rest and then fire him back into the XI ahead of the all-important fixture against Rangers on December 30.

Either way, Hyeongyu Oh’s recent goals are a very good sign that Celtic’s squad depth is working, with Andy Walker praising the hunger in his game.

First choice for Sunday v Killie: “I think so,” responded Walker.  “He is a man in top form. He is full of confidence.

“Kyogo not so much. It’s okay for him to take a bit of a break. His time will come back, of course, when he is a bit more refreshed.

“But Oh now looks as though he is really hungry to score. He is desperate to get on the end of chances.

“Again, like Shankland, his first goal the other night was like a poacher’s goal. Then, the other one, a bit of strength and a bit of composure. I think he is in a really good spell. He is the number one striker, for the moment.”

Kilmarnock v Celtic

Another chance to keep that unbeaten run going and re-open that eight-point lead, albeit with a game in hand for Rangers.

The first-half performance against Hibs was the benchmark. That’s how to start games, not like against St Johnstone last time out.

It’s going to be interesting to see what type of team Rodgers plays because the likes of Oh and Mikey Johnston, who haven’t been regular starters this season, deserve to keep their place in the XI.

And Rodgers will also have an eye on the Champions League clash against Feyenoord next Wednesday night.

Yes, it’s a bottom-of-the-table finish for the Bhoys. But this this is about confidence for next season and ultimately, playing for pride and ending the ridiculous winless record in Europe.
