As it stands, Celtic are a way in front of their arch-rivals Rangers on and off the pitch following an excellent start to the season under Brendan Rodgers.
Campaigns past have cemented the Bhoys’ status as the team to beat in Scotland, and if they maintain their current momentum, they could be in pole position once again this term to win a fourth Scottish Premiership title in succession.
The gap between Celtic and Rangers right now isn’t just simplified to on-field matters. On the monetary front, there is also a distinct divergence between both clubs.

In short, Celtic have £77.2 million in the bank compared to Rangers £1.7 million, sampling either club’s most recent financial results. The Bhoys also hold a superior ‘overall revenue amount’ of £36.3 million and will be set to earn a significant payout from their participation in the Champions League.
While there are obvious reasons behind the subject in question, Andy Walker has pointed out his main factor behind the situation that has manifested itself on and off the pitch.
Andy Walker on why Celtic are currently in front of Rangers
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, Walker believes Brendan Rodgers returning to Parkhead has had a notable bearing on the Celtic hierarchy’s willingness to spend large sums that others in Scotland simply can’t get near at this moment in time.
He stated: “They have outspent every other club in the Scottish Premiership other than Celtic. I think Celtic now have taken a different view with Brendan Rodgers coming back. They’re now spending at a level that Rangers can’t get anywhere near.
“When you’re investing in a 20-year-old att £10, £11 million and investing in another talent that’s a centre-forward but he cost you £9 million, that’s at a level that I didn’t think Celtic would go to, but Brendan Rodgers I think coming back has made Celtic change their approach.
“We’re beginning to see signs of what it means on the pitch because Celtic look like a team that can compete at a really good level in Europe.”
Celtic don’t need to concern themselves with comparisons
Regardless of comparisons involving Celtic’s overall health compared to others, there is simply no need for the club to focus on anyone other than themselves.
Without a doubt, the Bhoys are on an upward trajectory as they strive towards making history in the Champions League.
On top of that, there is a core in the Celtic dressing room who know what it takes to push domestic silverware over the line. Hopefully, they can repeat that process in due time.
Even then, a game-by-game mantra is likely to be the mindset adopted at Lennoxtown. In order to achieve success, foundations need to be sewn. That should be the only internal focus for now.
