The latest Lawrence Shankland to Celtic rumour surfaced last night and for many fans, this has come out of left field.
Brendan Rodgers has made no secret of the fact that he wants to make Adam Idah a permanent addition to his Celtic team and much of the chat over the last few weeks has reflected that.
However, for Shankland, the Hearts striker has been continually spoken about with a move to Rangers for much of this year so when a report from HITC claimed that Celtic are looking at the Scotland man as an alternative to Idah, it certainly raised a few eyebrows.
Shankland to Celtic or Rangers?
The former Celtic man has already previously spoken in January about his thoughts about Shankland being a fit for Celtic and he admitted he wasn’t convinced.
So when it was put to Andy Walker again that Shankland isn’t the type of striker Celtic want, the former Hoops man delivered his verdict on what he thought of the recent Parkhead rumour.
Walker said [The Go Radio Football Show], “Listen, if Lawrence Shankland was to be a Celtic player, I think he would score goals.
“Everyone talks about what Lawrence Shankland can’t do, and maybe that cost us a wee bit in the Euros. I think he was someone who deserved maybe a wee bit more game time, but give him a heavier strip, and I think he’ll meet the challenge.
“Whether it’s Celtic or Rangers, I think he’s got a pedigree that tells you he’ll score goals in the top flight of Scottish football.”
Shankland’s goal-scoring record in Scotland’s top flight speaks for itself. Since joining Hearts in 2022, the 28-year-old has scored 59 goals in 94 appearances.

There is no doubt that in a Celtic team, he would be prolific when you look at the chances Rodgers’ side creates.
But after the intense speculation surrounding him about a move to Ibrox, I really can’t see Shankland making the switch to Celtic.
However, as we all know, in football anything can happen so you can never really rule anything out but the Celtic fans would be really surprised if this move ever materialised.
