The Adam Idah to Celtic talk has been dominating the headlines this week as Brendan Rodgers makes his move to buy the Irish striker.
Idah was absolutely crucial in helping Celtic win a league and Scottish Cup double as he stepped up in high-pressured games for the club.
Nine goals in 19 appearances helped to deliver two major domestic honours for Celtic last season and who can forget his two-goal penalty debut against Hibs at Easter Road?
The way he handled the pressure of that occasion plus scoring two goals against Rangers, also helped to endear Idah to the Celtic fans and project the Republic of Ireland striker to the top of Rodgers’ shopping list.
Adam Idah can take over from Kyogo at Celtic
Giving his opinion on Celtic’s pursuit of Idah, Andy Walker not only believes he can help Celtic improve their reputation in Europe, he also believes that the 22-year-old can take Kyogo Furuhashi‘s first-team place at the club.
Walker said [BBC Sportsound], “I think so [that Idah can make an impact in Europe]. I think that in the end, Celtic will come to some sort of agreement with Norwich and that they will get him.
“If you remember the way that Brendan Rodgers spoke about him when he began working with him he was waxing lyrical about his qualities and you would have thought this guy was a star in the Premier League in England when you listen to the way Rodgers was talking him up.
“I think he does want to work with him and I think he’s the type of player he wants to work with, that type of guy who’s got a bit of stature, a bit of physique, a bit of strength, in stark contrast to Kyogo who has been the number one striker for a couple of seasons.
“I think if Celtic were to get Adam Idah he may well take over that mantle, he’s the type of player that Brendan Rodgers likes to have in his starting eleven.”

There is no doubt that Idah is a quality player but to permanently take the place of Kyogo in the Celtic first-team would be some feat.
The Irishman certainly was preferred by Rodgers to start some games ahead of the Japanese striker. Who can forget his performance against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park to seal the title?
Idah does have all the attributes Rodgers likes in a striker and the fans will be hoping that this is a deal the Celtic manager can get done this summer.
