Celtic’s catalogue of stars who have plied their trade for the club over the years could rival many a footballing superpower worldwide.
The phrase ‘most of the football greats have passed through Parkhead’s gates’ isn’t just for show; the evidence is clear for all to see when dissecting legendary figures that have sampled Glasgow’s east end.
From the heroic Lisbon Lions to Kenny Dalglish and Henrik Larsson, you could write a book with endless chapters referring to the most prized Celtic possessions of times gone by.

Undoubtedly, historians have that one covered, but supporters will always debate over their most-loved player to pull on the green and white.
Following the same lines, there are just some players you take to as a fan, whether it be for their excellence on the pitch or just because they come across as a likeable presence.
Referencing a man who embodies both of these characteristics by the bucketload, Andy Walker has named his favourite Celtic player of all time.
Andy Walker’s favourite Celtic player of all time
Speaking to Last Word on Sports, Walker has revealed that Kenny Dalglish is his favourite Celtic player ever, indicating that the best of Jimmy Johnstone may have just evaded him when growing up watching the Bhoys.
He stated: “My favourite player as a youngster was Kenny Dalglish. I caught the last few appearances of Jimmy Johnstone at Celtic Park when my dad first took me to some games, but Kenny had a grace & elegance about him that made him stand out.”
Substantiating his opinion, Dalglish netted 167 goals in 320 appearances across all competitions for Celtic, winning nine trophies in a spell that lasted ten years before his move to Liverpool.
At Anfield, King Kenny put up 172 strikes in 515 appearances, becoming one of the greatest players ever to grace the Merseyside giants. No wonder they named a stand after him!
Celtic fans always show love to legendary club icons
Undoubtedly, Celtic have one of the most fanatical supporter bases across the globe, which is reflected in their respect for club legends no matter how long they have been away from Parkhead.
When a player is special enough, memories of their spell in Glasgow duly become timeless, and even if you aren’t old enough to remember their exploits in the flesh, rest assured, parents, grandparents and family friends will be sure to depict their impact to the younger generation.
Dalglish will forever be etched in the memory of Celtic supporters who were fortunate enough to see his talent in full view/
