Celtic’s relentless start to the Scottish Premiership continued at the weekend after they beat Hibs 3-0 at Parkhead.

The Bhoys’ win over the Easter Road club opened up a bigger gap at the top of the league table as Brendan Rodgers looks to successfully defend his title this season.

With Aberdeen dropping further behind Celtic after drawing with St Johnstone and Rangers closing the gap on second place, it does look like the battle to finish second is starting to hot up this winter.

Speaking before Celtic beat Hibs, former Hoops striker, Andy Walker predicted how many points Rodgers will finish ahead of Aberdeen and Rangers in the race for the title and now, it could be even more after the weekend’s results.

Andy Walker predicts Celtic to create a big gap ahead of Aberdeen and Rangers

Walker told The Go Radio Football Show [27m], “Yeah, they’re in the mix with Rangers to finish second. Celtic will win the league by 15, or 20 points. They’re not going to drop many. They’ve got a big group, they’ve got a quality group.

“They’ve got a group that is being managed well because they’re all getting a good bit of game time. You saw the amount of changes that happened last week, and yet they scored five, and that was only in the first half. The surprise was that it finished five.

“But they’ll do the same again this weekend. Hibs at home, a team that has been struggling all season. They’ve got some decent players, but Celtic make those changes with the likes of Adam Idah and maybe Scales.

“They’ve got people in every position that can come in and give Celtic fresh legs, fresh energy, and with the main players on the bench if you’re struggling at any point, you can just bring one or two of them on.”

Celtic’s next three Scottish Premiership fixtures compared to Aberdeen and Rangers

Celtic have three fixtures to complete before 2024 ends and if the results go Brendan Rodgers’ way, the gap could be even more significant before the turn of the year.

Rangers’ fixtures

Both Aberdeen and Rangers have two tough away fixtures to end the year whereas Celtic have two home games.

If results go Celtic’s way, and they could, that 20-point margin Walker talks about could be small fry if Rodgers’ team continue the season unbeaten in the next few weeks.
