Luke McCowan is a popular player with the Celtic support.
This is despite McCowan being a bench player under Brendan Rodgers, but the fact that he is a boyhood Celtic fan makes him more of a favourite than others.
This is McCowan’s second season in Paradise, but he is yet to break into Rodgers’ first XI, although he was given a much-needed run around at the weekend.
Celtic drew 0-0 with Hibernian, and Andy Walker shared an insight into how some of his own Celtic friends and family are feeling about the all-action midfielder.

‘Delight’ at Luke McCowan getting a start for Celtic
It’s probably not a surprise, but Walker touched upon how McCowan needs to be playing more for Celtic.
Speaking on Go Radio, the former striker explained that his Celtic friends and family were ‘delighted’ to see McCowan being handed a rare start against Hibs.
Walker thinks McCowan is in the same boat as Paulo Bernardo, and that’s the fact that they have ‘a lot to offer’, if they are given more game time.
“Luke McCowan doesn’t get enough game time,” said Walker. “I had family and friends who were pleased that he was playing from the start at the weekend.
“He is someone who doesn’t get a lot of game time from the start. He is someone who tends to come on for 20 minutes or half an hour.
“To get him on from the start, I am only going by what family and friends are saying, they were happy to see him play. I think you would say the same about Bernardo. He has a lot to offer.”
McCowan’s stats for Celtic against Hibernian
With Celtic’s games coming thick and fast, including a home Europa League tie against Braga on Thursday night, these were some much-needed minutes for McCowan.
The 27-year-old didn’t make the impact he would have liked because Celtic didn’t win the game, but this is where he would love to get starts on top of starts, but he knows that isn’t going to happen.
This is how McCowan rated against Hibernian:
- Minutes: 74
- Passes: 50
- Key Passes: 2
- Passing accuracy: 84%
- Accurate long balls: 1
- Through balls: 1
- Interceptions: 1
- Touches: 58
- WhoScored rating: 6.55
