Ange Postecoglou has just left ignorant English press in hysterics, his Celtic reference is brilliant

Celtic supporters across the globe know all too well that Ange Postecoglou can be rather spiky with the press.

That was certainly the case when he was in Scotland, when some line of questioning could leave the Aussie-Greek hero feeling exasperated.

His quips and one-liners in response to some reporters were fantastic and he really did put them in their place when it was required.

Postecoglou hasn’t changed his ways since making the heartbreaking move to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer and proved that during his pre-match FA Cup press conference, as Spurs take on Burnley at home on Friday night.

The 58-year-old will be hoping to get his hands on the famous old trophy come the end of the season, just like he did with so many times with domestic honours in Scotland.

Ange won five titles with Celtic, including the domestic treble in his final season. But one English reporter present at the FA Cup presser seemed to have forgotten about what Postecoglou did with the Hoops in his two years with the club.

Ange Postecoglou brilliant Celtic reminder

The journalist was rather ignorant, asking Ange if he ever pictures himself winning major trophies.

The great man quipped back expertly in what is a clear reference to the success he had at Celtic, replying: “I’ve got real pictures, mate. There is quite a few of them mate.

That comment left the Spurs press auditorium in utter hysterics. The reporter then bungled a little and then effectively tried to ask the same question, saying: “Mentally I am just thinking do you picture yourself…”

But big Ange Postecoglou wasn’t having it and butt in again, brilliantly responding: “I just look at the ones I have got. I’ve earned them, it’s not luck.”

What this really shows is how self-centred the English press, particularly those covering the Premier League, really are.

Sure, the reporter in question may have been alluding to Ange winning honours with Spurs but it certainly didn’t really seem that way.

You wouldn’t be surprised if the journalist wasn’t able to rhyme off the top of his head how many titles Ange had lifted with the famous Glasgow Celtic.

Ange doesn’t take any nonsense and it’s brilliant to see he’s pulling up the English press and reminding them of what he achieved so expertly up here.
