Ange Postecoglou brilliantly details his experience with Celtic supporters in new Australian media appearance
Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou talked up his experience with the Hoops fanbase and their support for the club.
Postecoglou is a footballing fanatic and has enjoyed success at the majority of sides he has managed across the globe, from Japan to Scotland.
However, the 56-year old has admitted he has never experienced anything quite like the Celtic fans and their love/support for the football club.
Speaking in an Australian Radio interview with Rowey’s Sports Show, Postecoglou opened up on the dream experience of being the manager at the club with a fanbase like the Bhoys support.
The Hoops boss joked about how supporters plan their entire lives around Celtic, explaining why he enjoys being a part of that with his love for the game of football all his life.
When asked if being the centre of a support like Celtic was ‘everything he had dreamt it to be’, Ange said: “Yeah, I think so, mate.
“I think that’s the biggest bit, I’ve been pretty lucky I have had a lot of success in my career, and I’ve enjoyed every one of it. But, I’ve always craved to be in an environment where people are as passionate about this game as I was.
“That was the experience I wanted to live. That was the experience I wanted to be in the middle of, and it hasn’t disappointed.
“The passion people of here, people have to find a new word for it because they aren’t fans, they’re not supporters of the football club. This football club is who they are.
“Their whole week, their whole year – the mood is gaged by how this team goes. They get out their fixture list, and they plan their weddings, baptisms, christenings, whatever you want, around the games. They plan their holidays around the season.
“So, it’s a way of life for them. I love that because that’s how I felt about the game my whole life. It’s just great to be in the middle of it.”
With just these comments alone, you can gauge how much Ange Postecoglou ‘gets’ the Celtic support.
He sums up perfectly how we support this football club. It isn’t simply a game for the majority of fans, but rather a way of life.
Since his arrival at the club last summer, Ange Postecoglou and Celtic Football Club has felt like a match made in heaven.
The former Socceroos boss has produced an incredible turnaround after last season’s disappointment and brought the good times back to Celtic Park right from the off.
Personally, like many other Celtic supporters, I cannot wait to see what is to come under Postecoglou in the near future.
