Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Giorgos Giakoumakis is due to return to Celtic match squads imminently after missing out on the trip to Dundee United today.
The Greek striker wasn’t named in the starting eleven or on the bench for the 9-0 rout, leading some to worry about his status ahead of some massive matches.
However, speaking on Sky Sports Main Event in his pre-match interview, the Celtic boss confirmed he had only missed the game due to illness on Saturday and is expected back for the midweek clash away to Ross County.

That’s great news, not just for that match but also for huge tests at home to Rangers and Real Madrid in the coming ten days.
Having a striking alternative ready to come off the bench for Kyogo Furuhashi, if needed, is crucial for both games. He offers a completely different set of skills in the final third.
Giakoumakis has yet to start a fixture this season but has scored two goals from four substitute appearances, showcasing he will continue to make a big contribution regardless of his role.
If he’s feeling right, a spot in the eleven for Dingwall would be a good shout, allowing Kyogo to rest his legs and stay fresh for the coming gauntlet.
Either way, it’s just a sigh of relief that he won’t be out of it for too long. The squad is largely injury-free at the moment but losing influential players ahead of the busiest period would be a blow.
