Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed a number of young Celtic players will be travelling with the first-team squad for the trip to Australia for matches against Sydney FC and Everton.

Asked whether the break would be an opportunity to see some of them, Postecoglou told a press conference today [Sky Sports]: “We’ll take a couple. Bosun Lawal will come with us. Rocco Vata will come with us on the trip. Scott Robertson is coming across too. Those three will come across.

“Some of the other younger ones, they’ve had a really hectic period as well because they’ve obviously been playing UEFA Youth League and Lowland League – so it’ll be good for them to have a break.

“And some of them have been selected for international teams at youth level, which I think for their development is really good. But we’ll be taking those three along with us to Australia and they’ll get some game time, which will be good for them.”

This will be a great boost to all three players. Robertson has been most involved with the senior side previously, playing in competitive action, but Lawal and Vata have only ever featured in pre-season.

Vata, in particular, has been in fine attacking form in the early stages of the campaign. With teams in cash-rich leagues reportedly tracking his progress, giving him the chance to impress the first-team coaching staff and perhaps even supporters is fantastic.

It’s another lifeline for Robertson too, who has spent time out on loan in the English lower leagues previously.

I’m excited to see all of them. It certainly seems they are at another tier compared to some of the other young prospects at the club, which bodes well for their long-term Bhoys future.
