Ange Postecoglou confirms he has the freedom to make Celtic coaching staff changes
New Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed to media today that he has the freedom to make coaching staff changes at Lennoxtown.
However, no decisions have been made yet on who will be coming in and who will be leaving.
Currently Gavin Strachan and John Kennedy are still in place from last season.
Postecoglou didn’t go into detail on what he’s looking for from staff, but did say he will be making assessments over the coming weeks.
Speaking on the official Celtic YouTube channel, he said: “I’ll make those decisions as we go along. My view on these things is I’ll always trust my judgement above anyone else’s. I’m going to be the one working with people every day.
“I’ve had plenty of people offering opinions and that’s great, but I back myself to make the right decisions. That’ll happen over the next few weeks both with players and staff.
“There’s no doubt the environment will change and the way we work will change. If we need to bring people in to fill gaps or to add to expertise we will do that. The club has given me the freedom to do that. I’ll make my decisions once I’ve seen what’s in place first.”
Postecoglou handled the media well in his first appearance. He batted away questions about Eddie Howe and working at a perceived lower level with ease.
He’s also laser-focused on the upcoming Champions League match and preparing the team for the new season.
He’s a man who thrives working on the training pitch and noted that this is bit about management he enjoys – putting the building blocks in place for success.
Fans will continue to be anxious about his coaching staff, no doubt. However, we at least have assurances that it’ll be Postecoglou making the decisions.
That’s the important part.
We’ll have much more from today’s media event on the website and 67 Hail Hail YouTube channel later today.
