Ange Postecoglou is facing a fight to keep his job at Nottingham Forest already.
The Celtic hero is yet to win a game as the boss of Forest since replacing Nuno Espirito Santo.
Forest were beaten 2-0 by Newcastle United on Sunday and are 17th in the Premier League table, with Postecoglou admitting that he expects to speak to the club’s owner Evangelos Marinakis about his future.
Sections of the Forest support sang ‘sacked in the morning’ to Postecoglou, clearly wanting change, but Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is one of those defending the Australian.
What Eddie Howe said about Ange Postecoglou after Newcastle vs Forest
Howe was the man facing Postecoglou at St James’ Park, guiding his team to a relatively comfortable win.
He could be the reason that the Australian loses his job, but Howe was quick to praise his opponent for the way he continues to be himself.
“I think we all know when we go into the job the fragility of it really,” the Magpies boss said.
“No amount of success previously can take you out of that firing line. We’re all in it. We’re all subjected to the same forces we’re dictated to by results.
“But I think in any moment, whether it’s good or bad, you’ve just got to be yourself, which Ange very much is.”
How close was Eddie Howe to becoming the Celtic manager?
The two managers in question both have previous history due to their Celtic connections.
Before Postecoglou was sounded out, Howe was the initial number one target for Celtic.
A move broke down in the end after the former Bournemouth manager wasn’t able to finalise his backroom staff with the club.

He then joined Newcastle later that year and has secured Champions League football twice, as well as winning the club’s first piece of major silverware in 70 years.
