Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has revealed the reason Josip Juranovic was substituted off against Dundee United this afternoon.
Juranovic was forced off in the first half to be replaced by youngster Adam Montgomery. And now we know the nature of his injury.
Postecoglou explained to BBC Radio Scotland [17:13]: “Yeah it’s too early to tell. We’ll wait and see. We’ll get scans on Juranovic, who felt his hamstring.”
The manager also said James McCarthy exited the match after feeling the effects of a crunching first-half tackle. However, the hope is he is okay moving forward.
Typically hamstring injuries can be tricky to manage and are unpredictable when it comes to making a recovery.
Callum McGregor was initially thought to be out for a match or two with a hamstring problem, but has now missed more and isn’t expected back in training until this week.
We’ll have to keep our fingers crossed that Juranovic’s scan shows a very mild issue, otherwise he could be facing weeks on the sidelines himself.
Another medium-term injury problem is the last thing we need right now with the squad already completely decimated.
From long-serving stars to new signings, we haven’t been able to get anything near a full-strength side on the pitch on more than a handful of occasions this season.
If there was ever a time to get a bit of good luck on the injury front, it’s with Juranovic.
