Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou is expecting the imminent return of three or four players that will strengthen his first team.

The Celtic starting eleven against Real Betis last night was notably weakened with some players out of position and a youngster given his first start of the season.

Key players such as Kyogo Furuhashi, James Forrest and Liel Abada all missed last night’s fixture.

Now, Ange is expecting a bunch of his ruled out players to come back into contention over the next week.

As quoted by The Scottish Daily Mail [17/09 print edition, page 89], the Bhoys boss said after the Betis match: “I’ve got mixed emotions. I’m really proud of the team and the football we played. But they (Betis) obviously have some quality and there were periods of the game where they got momentum and some big goals.

“On the other side of that, we had other opportunities to go further ahead, so it’s disappointing the players didn’t get the rewards for their efforts. We showed some resilience to show that, irrespective of circumstances, we will be a certain kind of football team.

“We’ll get some players back who are going to help us absolutely, particularly to settle the team down a bit. We’ll be stronger.

“Hopefully over the next week to ten days we’ll have three or four back.”

Postecoglou won’t want to specifically single out who will be competing for places against Livingston and Raith Rovers.

However, Forrest isn’t thought to be far away, while Giorgos Giakoumakis is closing in on making his Celtic debut.

With Abada only missing for religious reasons, he should come back into the squad for Sunday.

We might be waiting a little while on Kyogo, but he certainly seems optimistic on Instagram too, so fingers crossed we see him before the end of the month.
