Ange Postecoglou still watches Celtic from afar and has reaffirmed how much he loved his time in Glasgow, in a new interview with Sky Sports.

Postecoglou left the Bhoys for Tottenham Hotspur in the aftermath of delivering a glorious treble of trophies last season.

He’s always had ambitions of managing in the English Premier League and is taking on the new challenge at full speed, as we’d have expected.

But he still harbours feelings for the Scottish champions, which he isn’t afraid of sharing publicly. It seems a bit of Celtic will live with Ange forever.

Asked if he misses Glasgow by Sky Sports, the Spurs boss said: “I loved my time there. I loved living in Glasgow – the family had a great time – and I loved working at that football club. I follow their results, I try to watch their games every week.

“I’ve got a connection with that club now forever. It’s just a fantastic football club. Just the way people treated and supported me the whole time – not just me but my whole family. It’s a real strong connection I have there.”

Some fans will question the way Postecoglou left the club. Nobody really wanted to see him leave. But it can’t be denied he struck up a lasting relationship during his time in Scotland.

I suspect that history will be kind to the Australian’s Bhoys’ reign. Any lingering ill feelings about his switch to England will ease over time. Everyone will remember the success and the way in which he connected with supporters.

Personally, I am enjoying watching his Spurs side take on the best in England and deliver his brand of football on the biggest league stage in the world. He has already revitalised the London side.

Celtic, for us all, come first. But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t still fond of Postecoglou. I want him to be successful down south – it’d be a fantastic culmination of a long, hard-fought career. We were lucky to have him while we did.
