I’ll be honest. I’ve never enjoyed watching Celtic at Kilmarnock.
Even before the days of the plastic pitch, there was always something about the trip to the east coast that I always found uncomfortable.
Now, it’s not as if they are exactly a hoodoo team in the league.
In fact, you need to go back to September 2018 to find the last defeat we suffered against them in the SPFL when we lost 2-1 at Rugby Park.

But since then, we have won all but one match, a 1-1 draw in August 2020, which was when we last conceded a goal against the bottom-half club.
Even so, Ange Postecoglou is expecting a tough match as he knows that Derek McInnes’ side will be battling for every single point.
Speaking on Celtic TV, when asked if he is expecting a tough challenge from the relegation battlers, Ange said, “I’ve said probably after the international break, I think every game and you’ve seen not just in our games, but when we played Ross County or obviously played Rangers last week and Kilmarnock, every game has got an edge to it because every team has got something to play for.
“And you’ve seen that in the other games how tight they are and how important three points can be or even a point for that matter can be to a team.
“So I think right up until the split these next two games for us, they’re gonna have a bit of an edge to them because we’re playing teams with something to play for.
“And Kilmarnock are a tough challenge. You look at their home form, it’s pretty good. It’s up in the top half of the league in terms of results at home, so we know it’s not going to be an easy game.”

Out of their fifteen home games in the league this season, Killie have won seven, drawn five and lost only three.
They have scored twenty goals but have also conceded twenty so even with that decent home form, they are still vulnerable at the back.
Our last two trips to Rugby Park have been negotiated fairly easily with an aggregate scoreline of 9-0 to Celtic so all the signs do point to a comfortable three points for Celtic but Ange, as always, will take nothing for granted.
