Alistair Johnston has a chance to make it back for Celtic before the end of the season, manager Ange Postecoglou confirmed in a media event today.
Johnston collided with Borna Barisic in last week’s 1-0 Scottish Cup semi-final victory over Rangers at Hampden and could be seen on crutches later that afternoon.
However, the timescale on his return is weeks rather than months and he has a chance to make it back for the final against Inverness Caledonian Thistle in early June.

Postecoglou said this afternoon [Celtic FC]: “Obviously he got a significant knock. We’ll see at the moment. There’s still a chance he’ll be available before the end of the season but that will be a week-by-week thing. Cameron Carter-Vickers will be out until the start of next season.
“James Forrest is probably a week away. The only new one is Stephen Welsh – he picked up a knock at training so he’s not available for this weekend. Everyone else is good to go.”
Celtic have enough defensive cover at the moment with Yuki Kobayashi expected to slot in at centre-half and Anthony Ralston available to fill in for Johnston.
It’ll actually turn out to be a good opportunity for that duo to stake a claim for more regular inclusion heading into the new season, with chances for both limited in recent months.
Johnston will be desperate to make it back for the cup final, however, and we wish him all the best in his recovery.
