Ange Postecoglou "ready to share" his whisky collection if Celtic win the title

Ange Postecoglou has stated that he’s “ready to share” his Scottish whisky collection if Celtic wrap up the Premiership title this season.

Ange’s Hoops are in a remarkable position heading into today’s game against Rangers at Celtic Park. 6 points clear with only 4 games remaining puts us in a commanding position for the title regardless of what happens this afternoon.

Victory of course would all but secure it. It would leave Celtic just a point away from confirming that the league championship would be heading back to Parkhead after last season’s disaster.

Postecoglou has generally stuck to the mantra of one game at a time. But even he allowed himself to look a little bit futher ahead as the reality of the situation becomes clear.

As quoted by the Daily Mail, Ange said: “It’s the whole one-game-at-a-time head-set I’ve got on at the moment where I’m not too far ahead – still a couple of steps to go.

“It will be special. I have already got a fairly decent collection of some fine Scottish whisky, which I would be happy to share. If it does happen then, you know, I’ll break open a couple of the special ones and have a couple of quiet ones.

“I kind of knew coming over here that for the most part, people would be questioning A, my appointment, and B, I guess, my credentials. But I’ve, in my whole career, used that as a bit of a positive for myself in any kind of opportunity that you get. If people underestimate you, then you’re in a pretty good space provided you deliver.”

Ange Postecoglou can sense Celtic success is on the cards

If anything tells you just how close we are to winning the Premiership, it’s these comments from Ange. A manager who hasn’t once allowed himself to think about potential celebrations until they’re actually achieved.

But the truth is that it’s just the reality of the situation just now. If Celtic didn’t win the Premiership from this point onward, it would be an absolute implosion. One of the biggest title capitulations in living memory.

We’re all going for 3 points against Rangers this afternoon. However, even if we actually did lose the game, it would still leave us 3 points clear with a massively better goal difference than our rivals. Effectively, we would still be 4 points clear with 3 games remaining.

Of course, that’s only the worst-case scenario. The rewards are there for Celtic if they manage to notch a 3rd consecutive league win over our rivals.

And even if Ange is potentially looking ahead to what his title celebrations could look like, he’ll be ensuring that there will be no complacency entering the players’ thoughts this afternoon. This game will be treated like any other Glasgow derby this season. The only party atmosphere that should consume this one must be if the points are won. Nothing else matters today.

If they do, then Celtic are champions. Maybe not officially, but it’ll definitely happen.
