Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has provided his assessment of the Hoops’ 10-day pre-season trip to Austria.

Over the years, it has been standard practice to see the Bhoys jet off to Europe in order to start their preparations for the new season.

After having to stay in the UK last year due to Covid restrictions, this summer provided Ange Postecoglou with his first opportunity to head off to a European training camp.

Celtic have released plenty of behind the scene content from the Hoops’ trip to Austria, and it has been a busy pre-season camp for Postecoglou and his players.

On Tuesday, the Bhoys headed to Czech Republic to take part in their third friendly fixture, which will also bring an end to their 10-day stay in Europe.

Speaking to Celtic TV, the 56-year-old provided his assessment of the squads time spent in Austria and reflected upon the work done during pre-season so far.

He said [Celtic TV]: “It’s been a good camp. We’ve got through the majority of the work we wanted to, and most of the players have got through them.

“We’ve had a couple of little niggling injuries since we went. Some players missed a couple of sessions here and there, and we had some decent game time.”

He continued: “The main focus is always the same, whether it’s the beginning of the season or the middle of the season, we just want to make sure that we provide an environment for the players to work hard and improve whilst getting them ready for game one.

“That’s the whole point of pre-season, I guess; you can’t look too far ahead, it’s about creating a strong foundation. But, the ultimate priority is to be ready when the league kicks off.”

A valuable two weeks for Postecoglou and his players.

It has been a valuable two weeks or so for Ange Postecoglou and his squad, as they were able to work on the training ground for an extensive period of time.

After having so much business to complete last year, this pre-season was arguably seen as Postecoglou’s first real opportunity to get to work during the summer.

The Celtic manager built incredibly strong foundations in a short space of time last campaign, which has left supporters excited as to what the 56-year-old will have done with his squad this pre-season.

Of course, the start of the competitive action will be the real test to assess the work that has been done on the training ground over the last few weeks.

However, it certainly seems to have been a productive time for all involved at Celtic.
