Ange Postecoglou has been unveiled as the new Nottingham Forest manager.

Just a few months after leaving Tottenham Hotspur, the former Celtic boss has accepted a new challenge at the City Ground, taking over from Nuno Espirito Santo.

Given the success that his predecessor enjoyed, Postecoglou will face a unique challenge under owner Evangelos Marinakis, who has mighty ambitions for the Premier League club.

Having won the Europa League for Tottenham in May, the Australian will be competing in it again with Forest, who are in European competition for the first time this century.

And after facing a predictable question in his unveiling press conference, Postecoglou was quick to correct the reporter, referencing his memorable two years at Celtic Park.

Postecoglou has won trophies in Australia, Japan and Scotland, as well as at both international level and continental level.

Given how hard he has worked for those achievements over a long period of time, he is always quick to defend them when the media give him the opportunity.

As a reporter began a question about his infamous “second season” promise at Tottenham, Postecoglou replied: “I’ve won a couple in my first year as well. At Celtic I won a double in my first year.

“Of course I can [win in my first year]. I may have to to have a second year here, mate. I want to be a little bit different, I’ve tried to be a little bit different.

“I’ve obviously had a different journey to everyone else in the Premier League. If I can bring similar joy that Brian Clough brought to this football club and this city, I’ll be very happy.”

If he can have a fraction of Clough’s influence, he’ll leave the City Ground as a legend.

Will Brendan Rodgers follow Ange Postecoglou back into the Premier League?

Some Celtic fans were holding out hope for a Postecoglou return to Celtic Park, with Rodgers’ contract set to expire at the end of the season.

But with some reports claiming that Rodgers also featured on Forest’s shortlist of managers to replace Nuno, they could well face each other in the English top-flight.

Pundits have laughed off the possibility of Rodgers staying at Celtic, with the recent transfer window shambles seemingly sealing his fate.

But with this season only just getting underway, fans will be hoping that Rodgers’ head isn’t turned too soon.
