Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has suggested there will be plenty of rotation in the team tomorrow as the Bhoys travel to play Alloa in the Scottish Cup fourth round.

Celtic have had tremendous success in the tournament over the last few years and after winning the Scottish League Cup last month, Postecoglou’s outfit will fancy more silverware come May.

Lower league Alloa lie in wait though, hoping to pull off a massive upset under manager Barry Ferguson.

Ange recognises the need to be wary of cup slip-ups but has hinted we’ll see plenty of changes in his starting eleven.

The Bhoys boss told a press conference earlier [Celtic YouTube]: “Part of having a squad is that you use it. There’s no point having a squad of players and relying on the same ones all the time. Tomorrow is an opportunity to give guys game time who need the game time.

“What we do know is between now and the international break there are constant games – three a week. We got really challenged prior to the winter break with that schedule and I want to be better equipped to handle it this time around.

“The way to do that is to try and get minutes into guys legs, so they’re not playing after four or five weeks absence. Definitely tomorrow is an opportunity to get guys 90 minutes.”

For me, the main contenders for an appearance are Giorgos Giakoumakis, Liam Scales and perhaps even injury-hit players such as Jota and Christopher Jullien. Though, how much weight Postecoglou puts on plastic pitches impacting injuries could be a factor.

It definitely sounds as if we will see some hefty rotation though, which will be intriguing for supporters. It’s always good to check in on the progress of players you don’t see often.

Regardless of the strength of the eleven, there can be no excuses against Alloa, so here’s hoping for an interesting starting team and progression to the next round!

In other news, Celtic bonus as Cameron Carter-Vickers is not selected for USA duty; available for derby.
